About The Position

This position collaborates with physicians to develop and implement a plan of care aimed at returning the patient to optimal health. The Registered Nurse provides direct bedside nursing care, executes medical orders, and oversees the functions of various support staff including Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, OB Care Associates, Surgical Service Assistants, Nursing Clerks, and Psychiatric Technicians. The role also involves evaluating the effectiveness of the patient's care plan.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.
• ACLS within one year of transfer.
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course.

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Integrates evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegates and coordinates tasks and assignments for nursing care.
• Facilitates and participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and addresses patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with appropriate resources and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Seeks out educational opportunities and utilizes programs for professional growth.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts and mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
