About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Mixed Cardiac/Tele and Neuro/Stroke Unit at Elmhurst Main Hospital Campus. The role involves providing virtual and bedside nursing care to assigned patients, monitoring their condition, and communicating patient care information. The nurse will also act as a knowledge resource, potentially assist with medication reconciliation, procedure checklists, second nurse sign-offs, contacting families, answering questions, and performing patient/family education and discharge planning. Patient interactions will be documented via EPIC.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
  • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date (effective September 1, 2021)
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
  • Current CPR Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of start date in position
  • Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within in 6 months of start date in position

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing
  • 1 year of bedside inpatient nursing experience in an acute care setting, highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Provides virtual and bedside nursing to assigned patients.
  • Monitors and cares for patients.
  • Communicates patient care information to the bedside RN.
  • Acts as a knowledge resource to the bedside RN.
  • May provide medication reconciliation, completion of procedure checklists, second nurse sign off for meds/skin checks, contacts families, answers questions for the patient and/or family, etc.
  • Performs patient/family education and discharge planning.
  • Documents patient interactions via EPIC.
