About The Position

Endeavor Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Mixed Cardiac/Tele and Neuro/Stroke Unit at the Elmhurst Main Hospital Campus. This is a part-time position requiring 24 hours per week, with shifts from 7pm to 7:30am. The role involves working 4-5 weekends in a 6-week period and rotating holidays. The nurse will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, including understanding the physical and psychological needs of patients. Responsibilities include providing virtual and bedside nursing, monitoring and caring for patients, communicating patient care information, acting as a knowledge resource, performing medication reconciliation, completing procedure checklists, conducting second nurse sign-offs, contacting families, answering patient and family questions, performing patient/family education, and discharge planning. All patient interactions will be documented via EPIC.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
  • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date (effective September 1, 2021)
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
  • Current CPR Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of start date in position
  • Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within in 6 months of start date in position

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing
  • 1 year of bedside inpatient nursing experience in an acute care setting, highly preferred
  • RN Diploma Nurse if position start date is prior to September 1, 2021

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Provides virtual and bedside nursing to assigned patients.
  • Communicates patient care information to the bedside RN.
  • Acts as a knowledge resource to the bedside RN.
  • May provide medication reconciliation, completion of procedure checklists, second nurse sign off for meds/skin checks, contacts families, answers questions for the patient and/or family.
  • Performs patient/family education and discharge planning.
  • Documents patient interactions via EPIC.
