RN - Cardiovascular Unit - Nights
About The Position
Endeavor Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Mixed Cardiac/Tele and Neuro/Stroke Unit at the Elmhurst Main Hospital Campus. This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours per week, with shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The role involves working 4-5 weekends in a 6-week period and adhering to a rotating holiday schedule. The nurse will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, including understanding the physical and psychological needs of patients. Responsibilities include providing virtual and bedside nursing, monitoring and caring for patients, communicating patient care information, acting as a knowledge resource, performing medication reconciliation, completing procedure checklists, conducting second nurse sign-offs for medications and skin checks, contacting families, answering patient and family questions, performing patient/family education, and discharge planning. All patient interactions will be documented via EPIC.
Requirements
- Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
- If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date (effective September 1, 2021)
- Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure
- Current CPR Certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of start date in position
- Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within in 6 months of start date in position
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing
- 1 year of bedside inpatient nursing experience in an acute care setting, highly preferred
- RN Diploma Nurse if position start date is prior to September 1, 2021
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
- Provides virtual and bedside nursing to assigned patients.
- Monitors and cares for patients.
- Communicates patient care information to the bedside RN.
- Acts as a knowledge resource to the bedside RN.
- May provide medication reconciliation, completion of procedure checklists, second nurse sign off for meds/skin checks, contacts families, answers questions for the patient and/or family.
- Performs patient/family education and discharge planning.
- Documents patient interactions via EPIC.
