About The Position

This individual is primarily responsible for the performance of stress tests, nuclear stress tests, pharmacologic stress tests, patient monitoring during procedures, the administration of medications in emergency situations and the administration of medication for moderate sedation during a bronchoscopy. Additionally, this individual is responsible for office related duties including scheduling, filing, and billing procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program with a minimum of an Associate Degree.
  • Registered Nurse holding a current license in the state of Iowa.
  • Must successfully complete annual cardiac rhythm assessment test.
  • At the end of one year of employment in the department must become validated in monitoring nuclear and non-nuclear stress test and be able perform the duties required to work in the EKG lab.
  • Must be able to work comfortably with patients of all ages.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and the ability to make sound judgments independently.
  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.
  • Completes Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association within 6 months of hire and maintains current status.
  • Completes Cardiac Dysrhythmias and Management class or equivalent within 3 months of hire, and annual skill validation for Cardiac Dysrhythmias.
  • All offers are contingent upon the successful completion of references, background checks, pre-employment physical, drug screen and post offer exam.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years critical care or cardiac stepdown unit experience preferred, with training in IV-line insertion.
  • Demonstrated competence in critical care or cardiac stepdown preferred, with documented training in IV-line insertion.
