About The Position

This position involves collaborating with physicians to develop and implement patient care plans aimed at achieving optimal health outcomes. The role includes providing direct bedside nursing care, executing medical orders, and overseeing the functions of various support staff such as Nurse Assistants and Patient Care Associates. The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the care plan and ensuring proper patient placement and delegation of assignments as a team leader.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan
• Must satisfactorily complete the first available basic dysrhythmia course
• NIHSS Certification; if not current, must be obtained within twelve months of hire/transfer
• ACLS within one year of hire/transfer
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Six (6) months experience in an acute care setting or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
• Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Facilitates/participates in patient conferences.
• Identifies and provides the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs by communicating with the appropriate resource persons and attending discharge/transfer planning conferences.
• Assumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.
• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
