The role involves managing the care of patients experiencing medical conditions or surgical procedures, including assessing patient condition, administering medications, changing dressings, monitoring vital signs, keeping records, and providing patient and family support and education. The Registered Nurse is expected to maintain a wide array of medical care knowledge to care for a diverse patient population.
