About The Position

The Registered Nurse Cardiac Tele position is a full-time night shift role responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning their care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient information needs, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts and transfers. The department provides intermediate/telemetry level of care for various cardiac patients, including those recovering from CABG, MVR, TAVR, heart failure, and post-operative interventional cardiac procedures. The facility is an 833-bed MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center, serving as a Primary Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • basic computer skills using medical management application systems

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
