About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General's Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Surgical - Procedural IMCU. This 24-bed cardiac surgical/procedural IMCU provides care to pre and post cardiac surgery patients to include: bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, thoracic surgery/lung diagnostics, and other cardiac based procedures and treatments such as ablations, left atrial appendages, ICDs, and permanent pacemakers. The unit also provides a high level of care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, and chest pain. Nurses handle 3-4 patients on this unit based on acuity level. Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Virginia RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
• All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
• Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
• None required

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
• Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

• Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
• Apply the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) to the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
• Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
