Ball Memorial’s Cardiac Progressive Care an 18-bed unit that specializes in cardiac patient population; HF; pre & post cardiac catheterization patients; pre & post CV surgery patients; arrhythmias; cardiac drips. On the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, we use a multidisciplinary team approach consisting of nurses, physicians, patient care assistants, case managers, and secretarial support staff. We pride ourselves on our strong partnership and high-quality care we deliver to our patients. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Care of chest tubes and art lines. Managing and titrating drips. Management of drains, tubes, lines (ostomies, feeding tubes, central lines, etc.) Surgical site care (sutures, staples, dressing changes) Trach care. We have a UBC that meets monthly to discuss unit needs, concerns, and areas of opportunity. We have multiple nurses who are professionally engaged through nurse lead councils and certification. Our highest scoring areas in our Team Member Engagement Survey were “I know what is expected of me at work” and “I have a best friend at work.” 3 “Good Catch” award winners in 2023. Multiple Daisy award nominees in 2023. We work to create a healthy work environment through accountability, engagement, and collaboration. We encourage growth and development through certification, joining councils, etc. 6-8 weeks of orientation with a preceptor and classes. (cardiac dynamics, critical care basics, sheath class).
