About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position in the Cardiac Operating Room. The role involves providing direct patient care within the operating room environment, focusing on cardiac surgical procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. The nurse will collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and maintain a safe and efficient operating room. This position requires a strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and surgical interventions, as well as proficiency in operating room nursing practices.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a cardiac operating room setting.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures.
• Proficiency in operating room nursing techniques and sterile technique.
• Experience with cardiac surgical equipment and monitoring devices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Nice To Haves

• BSN degree.
• CNOR certification.
• Experience with minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
• Experience with ECMO or other advanced life support technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures.
• Assess patient condition, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain a safe and sterile operating room environment.
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment used in cardiac surgery.
• Educate patients and families about pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Document patient care activities accurately and thoroughly.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
