About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the EP Lab. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. The Cardiac Procedural Recovery Care & Short Stay Unit operates 24/7, admitting and recovering patients primarily during the day, with care provided for overnight stays. The unit prepares and recovers patients for procedures in the Cath lab, EP lab, Minor Procedure Room, and Cardiac OR. Procedures include Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology procedures (cardiac ablations), Cardioversions, surgery, and ICDs/Pacemakers. Sentara Heart Hospital is recognized for its Cardiology services and Heart Surgery.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
  • Virginia RN License or Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible
  • 2+ years of cardiac nursing experience required
  • Comfortable reading telemetry independently

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN
  • BLS within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Utilize standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Prepare and recover patients for procedures in the Cath lab, EP lab, Minor Procedure Room, and Cardiac OR.
  • Provide care for post-cardiac procedure patients, as well as ED and transfer patients awaiting procedures.
