About The Position

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. The Cardiac Cath Lab is an invasive procedural services department consisting of patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric, and we provide services for both inpatient and outpatient care. Our Care Team consists of Cardiac Cath Technologists, Vascular Radiologic Technologists, Registered Nurses, an Invasive Services Manager, and Supervisor. We work directly with Cardiologists, Radiologists, Vascular, Cardiovascular, and Thoracic Surgeons.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing required
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
  • Greater than one year of experience in cardiac, critical care, or surgical nursing with scrubbing and circulating experience
  • Possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, high attention to detail, and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with: TAVR, PE & DVT Angiogram and Thrombectomy, Left and Right heart Catheterization with Revascularization and Stenting, Electrophysiology, Complex PCI Balloon Pump, and Port-a-cath placement and removal
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
  • Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
  • Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
  • Visual acuity for observation of patients
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • RN - Board Of Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs

  • Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services
  • Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
  • Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
