About The Position

Registered Nurse (RN), Cardiac Cath Lab. This is a full-time position with 4 10-hour shifts, including on-call duties for weekends and holidays. Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a dedicated RN to join their busy Cardiac Catheterization/EP lab team. The lab performs various procedures including cardiac catheterization with stents, shockwave, CSI, Rota bladder, Laser, Impalla, balloon pump procedures, TEE, ablations, and Cardioversions. Some patients have same-day discharge after a 4-hour recovery period. The schedule is published monthly. Staff work 4 (10-hour) shifts with daily on-call duties for weekends and holidays, typically 2-3 days per week and every 3rd weekend, which may vary. Conemaugh Hospital has chest pain accreditation, requiring 24/7 STEMI call. EP lab staff work 5 (8-hour) shifts with no on-call duties, weekends, or holidays. Experience in ER, ICU, or PCU/telemetry is preferred.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Basic Life Support certification (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Critical Care Course (or completed within 6 months)
  • CPR certification
  • ACLS certification (or obtained within 6 months)
  • One year nursing experience
  • Arrhythmia course and critical care course (or obtained within one year)

Nice To Haves

  • One year nursing experience in cath lab preferred
  • RCIS Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the Patient Care Team’s delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patients’ spiritual and cultural differences.
  • Considers factors related to safety and effectiveness of and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
  • Initiates individualized patient and family teaching.
  • Administers medication including initiation and maintenance of IV therapy.
  • Implements physician orders and records verbal orders.
  • Makes decisions and judgements in preventing, analyzing, and resolving patient care concerns.
  • Reports patient status, refers problems when necessary and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes.
  • Maintains competency in Pain Assessment and management of pain.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital, and employee-related information.
  • Exhibits flexibility in scheduling given the urgent case nature as well as participates in the on call coverage of the STEMI Team.
  • Attends and participates as a minimum requirement of 6 Staff meetings annually. Reads and signs off all staff meeting minutes of meetings not attended.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement based activities and hospital based as directed.
  • Commits to Service Excellence and continually strives toward achievement of the Standards of Care.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to various age specific patient populations.
