Humber River Health, opened in 2015 as North America’s first fully digital hospital, aims to change healthcare. The Oncology team provides a full range of support to patients living with cancer, at all phases of their cancer experience, including consultation, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and palliative and supportive care. The hospital has a large Cancer Care Outpatient Clinic for chemotherapy treatments and actively participates in Oncology clinical trials, being the first community hospital in Ontario to do so. Oncology nurses specialize in treating people with cancer, serving as their first line of communication, helping to coordinate and deliver many aspects of a patient’s treatment, including administering medications, fluids, and cancer treatments such as chemotherapy. They are caring individuals dedicated to assisting patients as they undergo treatment.
