About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Burn Unit in Nashville, Tennessee. This full-time day shift position involves providing care to teenagers and adults with thermal, chemical, and electrical burns, frostbite, hypothermia, dermatological conditions, and those undergoing reconstructive surgery. The Burn Unit is a 23-bed facility, including 8 ICU beds and 15 stepdown beds, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 in the ICU and 1:3-4 on the stepdown unit. The role focuses on applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning, while collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve effective patient outcomes.

Requirements

At least 1 year of RN experience
Nursing degree
State or Compact License (TN license within 60 days of getting TN address even if compact license)
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities

Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.

Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.

Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
