About The Position

This role is for a specialized oncology Registered Nurse (RN) focused on managing patients receiving advanced immunotherapy, specifically Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy and Bispecific T-cell Engager (BiTE) therapies. The nurse will be responsible for patient education, close monitoring for complex toxicities such as Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS) and Immune Effector Cell-Associated Neurotoxicity Syndrome (ICANS), and coordinating care between inpatient and outpatient settings. The position involves remote monitoring and on-call direct patient care in an outpatient setting, with a mandatory 12-week comprehensive training program conducted during day shift hours.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program.
  • Current state RN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, high-risk patient reactions.
  • 2–5 years of nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN is often preferred.
  • Strong preference for oncology or bone marrow transplant (BMT) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs.
  • Manages patients receiving advanced immunotherapy, specifically Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy and Bispecific T-cell Engager (BiTE) therapies.
  • Focuses on patient education, close monitoring for complex toxicities like Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS) and Immune Effector Cell-Associated Neurotoxicity Syndrome (ICANS), and coordination of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Performs remote and/or in person monitoring for patients receiving ramp up Bispecific therapy and/or CAR-T.
  • Administers intravenous supportive care medication in an outpatient setting as needed.
  • Closely monitors for CRS and ICANS, using protocols to identify, grade, and manage these potentially life-threatening side effects remotely or in outpatient setting.
  • Educates patients on treatment plans, side effects, and after-care instructions.
  • Acts as a liaison between the patient, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Manages follow-up visits, coordination, remote monitoring, and lab monitoring.
  • Ensures accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Performs remote administrative tasks between patient monitoring visits or low patient census, including chart prep, clinic location infusion room preparedness, chart audits, and prescription renewal queue monitoring and completion.
