About The Position

Fairview is looking for a Registered Nurse on the Birthplace Unit at our Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN. This role is a .6 FTE (48 hours every 2 weeks) with 12-hour night shifts and every third weekend rotation, offering a variable schedule. Fairview Lakes Medical Center provides high-quality primary and specialty care and has received a 4-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Birthplace unit is a dynamic and collaborative environment where RNs are cross-trained in Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, OR circulator and PACU (c-section care), pediatrics, and nursery. Cross-training to med/surg may be required. All RNs are trained in lactation support, with some holding Certified Lactation Consultant credentials. Free parking is available for employees at this location.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 4-6 months postpartum experience
  • Current NRP certification

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) in accordance with policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
  • Coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes, involving the patient, family, and health team members in gathering data.
  • Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual, and social aspects) from patient and family.
  • Analyzes data and information to identify potential risks, prioritize needs, and determine priority problems.
  • Identifies and documents outcomes that are age-appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic, and attainable.
  • Develops an individualized nursing plan of care.
  • Prioritizes and implements interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
  • Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Anticipates, recognizes, and responds to emergent situations.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) and presents EBP findings to peers.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service, adjusting approaches to reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the population served.
