About The Position

This is a full-time position (64 hours biweekly) for a Registered Nurse in Behavioral Health, specifically for the Lancaster Diversion unit. The role involves weekdays with daytime hours from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with no weekend or holiday work. This position is eligible for a Sign-On Bonus. The Registered Nurse provides and coordinates treatment and services to psychiatric patients, functioning as a member of the health care team. The role requires assisting in the planning and implementation of patient care based on sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills, and experience, in accordance with Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing provisions. Additionally, the nurse serves as a resource for clinical staff and may act as the key clinical contact in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor or Clinical Team Lead, providing support for clinical staff scheduling and competency oversight.

Requirements

  • Diploma Program From an accredited RN program required or Associate's Degree From an accredited RN program required
  • 2 years Relevant experience required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.
  • Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree From an accredited RN program preferred
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification Upon Hire Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients and family members to obtain information about home environment, family relationships, health history, and patient's personality traits.
  • Administers medications as prescribed.
  • Coordinates care of assigned patients.
  • Conducts individual or group therapy sessions.
  • Assesses patients' progress and modifies or extends treatment program accordingly.
  • Documents current, accurate observations of care to the patient in appropriate records.
  • Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
  • Provides medication checks.
  • Provides support to nurse triage phone calls when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
  • Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
