About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health Department at Texas Health Plano is responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning for their care, implementing interventions, and evaluating their effectiveness. The role also involves incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiating actions to meet patient information needs, and maintaining continuity of patient care across shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The Behavioral Health Seay Center offers self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, a collaborative work environment, a great team, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and engaged leadership. The units are fast-paced, with 48 beds for adult and adolescent behavioral health patients.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma required OR Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
  • BCLS prior to hire
  • BCPMHN upon hire required
  • ACPI (30 days within hire)
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program required
  • RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • One year of Behavioral Health experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
  • Practices within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Serves as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care
