About The Position

This position supports the department’s clinical, operational, and administrative needs. The Registered Nurse assesses patients, plans and delivers nursing care, monitors patients’ conditions, and helps ensure treatment-plan goals are carried out in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and nursing competencies. The role also oversees the shift and supports staff in providing consistent, exemplary patient care.

The RN uses empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients and performs or assists with comprehensive nursing assessments. The position reports to the Nurse Manager or Chief Nursing Officer.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing.
• Current RN license as required by state regulations.
• CPR certification and De-escalation certification required, or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, including direct experience with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients.
• Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, plan care within established timeframes, and document findings according to policies.
• Oversee and supervise the shift.
• Demonstrate leadership, including delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, and meal supervision.
• Oversee staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately, including notifying the physician when needed.
• Administer medications according to hospital policy.
• Use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
• Deliver quality nursing care that ensures treatment-plan goals are executed in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and demonstrated nursing competencies.
• Assist with or perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.
