About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in Behavioral Health at Access, located in Kingston, NY. The Urgent Care serves as the entry point for all Behavioral Health and Substance Use Services, assessing and following clients from their initial presentation and providing acute care until they are connected with ongoing services. The team provides individual, family, and group clinical services to support individuals, including children, adolescents, adults, and families, who are experiencing life stressors or acute behavioral challenges, utilizing Evidence-Based Clinical Practices. For qualified professionals, training and clinical supervision will be provided for various Evidence-Based Practices.

Requirements

  • NY State RN License and minimum 1-year experience
  • Experience working with diverse populations and crisis intervention
  • Computer skills and experience working with electronic medical records

Nice To Haves

  • Psychiatric and Substance use disorder experience is a plus
  • Experience working with people diagnosed with I/DD is a plus
  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assess and triage patients appropriately based on their acuity.
  • Conduct assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
  • Provide general nursing care to patients in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment options.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assess, observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reaction to treatment to the team.
  • Educate patient/family about procedures, medications, nutritional maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Act as a patient advocate.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
  • Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team in planning the care of the patient and discharge planning, including follow-up and outreach after discharge.
  • Maintain examination rooms for necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness in the worker area, keeping it neat and orderly.
  • Prepare supplies and equipment and assist providers during examinations and treatment.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
