About The Position

Oakwood Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their behavioral health unit. This role is for day shifts (7a-7p). As a Registered Nurse (RN) joining the team, you will be part of a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. You will make an impact by utilizing specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing. This position is responsible for supporting the needs of the department with a focus on clinical, operational, and administrative excellence.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required.
  • Current Registered Nurse license as required by state regulations in which the facility operates.
  • CPR certification is required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • De-escalation certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred.
  • Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
  • 1-year experience in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient and plan care within set timeframes and document findings according to policies
  • Oversee and supervise the shift
  • Demonstrate leadership through duties that may include delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, meal supervision, etc.
  • Oversee staff to ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered by self and all members of the team
  • Monitor patient for change of condition and respond accordingly up to and including notification of the physician
  • Follow hospital policy for medication administration
  • Consistently use empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients
  • Deliver quality nursing care to ensure that goals of the treatment plan are properly executed following hospital policies and procedures and demonstrated nursing competencies
  • Assist/perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients
