Plans, provides, and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner. Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Works independently with minimal supervision. This role may also include duties of a Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC), assisting the medical director with patient rounds, providing assessment and therapeutic counseling to chemically dependent clients using a bio-psychosocial approach in an outpatient setting, educating clients and families regarding the disease process for chemical dependency, conducting individual and group therapy, and leading group discussions. The CDC addendum also involves responsibility for the care planning of a caseload of clients with chemical dependency issues, assessing patient needs, and updating the medical director.
