About The Position

The ASU/PACU RN is responsible for the pre-operative and post-operative care of the surgical patient for the department. Multidimensional responsibilities include patient/family teaching and patient care throughout the pre-anesthesia and post-anesthesia recovery phases of care. The registered nurse in ASU/PACU is involved in the assessment, nursing diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of perceived, potential or actual problems associated with anesthesia agents and surgical procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
  • Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of employment.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one year acute care experience as an RN preferred.
  • Recent working experience in acute care ASU/PACU highly preferred.
  • Critical care background is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism during stressful times.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong IV therapy skills are preferred.
