About The Position

The 5A/B Admissions/Holding Unit is a high-volume, multispecialty unit that cares for a diverse patient population across numerous service lines. The variety of patients admitted to the unit provides nurses with broad clinical exposure and opportunities to develop a wealth of knowledge and skills. Due to the fast-paced environment and continuous patient throughput, nurses must possess strong critical thinking, prioritization, communication, and time management abilities to deliver safe and efficient patient care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• BSN required (or related bachelor’s degree with 2 years of nursing experience)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year for Adult Critical Care/ED (as applicable)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year for ED, PICU, NICU, and other designated areas (per unit guidelines)
• Nationally recognized nursing specialty certification required within 1 year (as applicable)

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Nurse Manager to lead unit operations, support staff development, and drive high-quality, patient-centered care through performance standards, education, and shared governance
• Foster a safe, collaborative care environment by coordinating across disciplines, supporting patient flow, resolving challenges, and ensuring best practices in clinical care delivery
