About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Apheresis at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. The role involves performing apheresis procedures for patients and donors, operating and troubleshooting apheresis equipment, and closely monitoring patients. The nurse will participate in an on-call rotation, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• 2 years current hospital experience in apheresis
• Hands-on proficiency with apheresis procedures and equipment in a hospital setting, including therapeutic and donor apheresis.
• Strong venous access and vascular assessment skills.
• Ability to monitor patients closely throughout lengthy procedures.
• Comfortable managing donor/patient reactions and responding quickly to adverse events.
• Any state license works (current, active, unrestricted)
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
• BSN, ADN, or Nursing Diploma from an accredited program
• Passed NCLEX

Responsibilities

• Perform apheresis procedures for patients and donors at the NIH Clinical Center Blood Services unit.
• Conduct patient assessment before, during, and after each procedure.
• Operate and troubleshoot apheresis equipment.
• Document care accurately.
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team on patient status.
• Participate in the weekend and holiday on-call rotation, with a minimum of one full weekend per month.
