About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Antepartum role at Texas Health Plano is a PRN position focused on providing care in a 20-bed High-Risk OB unit. This unit cares for patients in Antepartum, High-Risk OB, GYN surgery, all female surgeries, and Postpartum mothers with babies in the Level IV NICU. The RN is responsible for the 24-hour care of non-laboring Antepartum and GYN patients. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas, specializing in various areas including women's services, and holds multiple designations such as Level II Trauma Facility, Level IV NICU, Level IV Maternal facility, and a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. It is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days required
  • CPI – Crises Prevention Intervention training maintained annually within 90 days required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Other – CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • One year of Antepartum experience strongly preferred
  • One year of Labor & Delivery experience strongly preferred
  • IFM – Intermediate Fetal Monitoring upon hire preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
