About The Position

The Antepartum Department at Texas Health Plano is a 20-bed High-Risk OB unit. This role provides care for and monitoring of patients in Antepartum, High-Risk OB, GYN surgery, all female surgeries, and Postpartum moms with babies in the Level IV NICU. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the 24-hour care of non-laboring Antepartum and GYN patients.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
  • One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days required
  • CPI – Crises Prevention Intervention training maintained annually within 90 days required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Other – CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • One year of Antepartum experience strongly preferred
  • One year of Labor & Delivery experience strongly preferred
  • IFM – Intermediate Fetal Monitoring upon hire preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
