The Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Surgery role involves maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating a high standard of courtesy and cooperation with colleagues, patients, and visitors, and achieving satisfactory job performance. The nurse will adhere to Community Memorial’s Mission, values, and standards of behavior, ensuring promptness and minimal absences. Key responsibilities include carrying out nursing interventions safely and accurately, utilizing knowledge, judgment, and skill to implement physician orders and the nursing plan of care. The role requires effective communication, independent work with limited supervision, and prioritization of workloads in coordination with team members and the OR Nurse Manager. The nurse will administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully, coordinate patient schedules, and effectively cover for absent team members. This position also involves ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available, fostering a positive working environment for team members, and performing accurate, concise, and timely documentation. Supporting and enforcing infection control policies, initiating and maintaining IVs and Venous Access Ports (VAP), assisting with lab draws, operating IV pumps, applying and maintaining Wound Vac Pumps, performing dressing changes, assisting with minor procedures, and assisting in Surgery with admissions and discharges are also key duties. The nurse must be able to operate all equipment and perform all procedures within the nursing department, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills for a wide range of nursing functions. Mathematical ability for accurate drug dosage computation and completion of annual unit-specific competencies are required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
