This Per Diem Registered Nurse position in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit (PreOp/PACU) involves practicing according to the American Nurses Association's (ANA) scope and standards of nursing practice. The role requires utilizing clinical expertise to plan and deliver safe, therapeutic, and population-specific patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The successful candidate will prioritize the patient and family in care delivery, incorporating their unique needs and characteristics. Collaboration within a multidisciplinary healthcare team is essential to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes. This role also involves providing leadership through orienting, mentoring, and managing team members to ensure compassionate, dignified, respectful, and efficient care. Participation in unit, departmental, and institutional performance improvement initiatives is expected to enhance patient, family, and service outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Current and valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Current and valid BLS certification
  • 2-3 years of Pre-op/PACU and Pediatric experience is required
  • Knowledge of standards of practice for all areas of patient care
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in unit, departmental, and/or institutional performance improvement initiatives that impact patient, family, and service outcomes based on professional practice standards.
