Provides and coordinates advanced nursing care in a non-acute specialty ambulatory, medical office, clinic or urgent care setting in accordance with the State Board of Nursing, Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state regulations, accreditation standards and Prisma Health’s philosophy, policies and procedures. This role focuses on targeted, complex, advanced care and performs specialized procedures or treatments and administers prescribed medications. It requires utilizing unique knowledge, skills, and competencies in ambulatory care nursing practice to promote wellness, restore health, and address health-related situational problems. The nurse will assess patients’ needs and apply advanced ambulatory care nursing knowledge and evidence-based nursing practice when developing an individualized plan of care for each patient. Coordination and documentation of patient care, including assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety, are key. The role also involves delegating tasks, adhering to infection control and safety protocols, and communicating effectively with the healthcare team. Patient and family education is integrated throughout care delivery to enable informed health decisions. The nurse will provide a compassionate and therapeutic environment, serve as a role model, and participate in educating and mentoring other team members. Attendance at department and organization meetings, completion of compliance training, and safe, efficient use of resources are expected. The nurse assumes responsibility for their own professional development and continuing education. Opportunities may exist to serve as a preceptor, unit champion, or participate in shared governance.
