This specific role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Allergy Clinic Lab Practice. The RN will provide direct care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment requiring extreme attention to detail. Responsibilities include performing skin tests, spirometry testing, allergen challenges, mixing and administering medications, and responding to patient reactions. The role demands expert clinical assessment skills, exemplary attention to detail, and the ability to function autonomously in a protocol-driven setting. The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, supporting professional nursing practice across various settings. The practice model includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. The RN will delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential, with opportunities to participate in committees and projects. New graduate nurses are directed to apply through the Nurse Residency Program. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
  • One year of RN experience required.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date.
  • Acceptable BLS certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020, and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
  • Minimum of one year of recent RN experience strongly preferred.
  • Current ambulatory and/or phone triage experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and availability of resources.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts.
  • Potentially serve in a preceptor role or other informal and formal leadership roles.
