Registered Nurse Acute (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit
About The Position
Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Hartford Hospital. This role involves recovering patients from various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and IV sedation, and managing their postoperative care. The PACU is a 28-bed unit serving diverse surgical services such as general surgery, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery (including spine surgery), plastic surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, cardiac procedures (TAVR), bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT, and OMF surgery. The unit also manages recovery for advanced GI procedures and outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients. This is a fast-paced, 24/7 unit receiving patients from over 40 operating rooms. We are looking for candidates with a positive outlook, an open mind, and a "can-do" attitude.
Requirements
- Current Connecticut RN License
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire
- ACLS certification is required for external candidates
Nice To Haves
- ICU experience preferred
- BSN Preferred
- Nurses with ED, Step-down and floor level experience may be considered on an individual basis
Responsibilities
- Recovering patients from anesthesia
- Managing postoperative care, including recovery from general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and IV sedation
- Providing service to a variety of surgical services
- Managing the recovery of GI advanced procedure patients as well as outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients
- Caring for ICU and step-down patients
