About The Position

Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family. The Critical Care Unit at the Hospital of Central Connecticut is a 24-bed unit, all comprised of private rooms. The staff includes Registered Nurses, Nurse Assistants, Administrative Support Staff, with attending Physicians and Mid-level providers available 24-7. Our unit is equipped with the highest levels of technology including Electronic Patient Records. Our staff works in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams in a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate’s degree in Nursing.
• One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.
• Experience of IV/line placement required.
• ACLS certified.
• 1 - 3 yr CCU experience required/med-surgical experience.
• Registered Nurse, State of CT
• Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.

• Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.

• Knowledge of high reliability.
• Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.
• Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs.
