This is an ideal opportunity for nurses seeking to deepen their cardiovascular experience in a supportive, academically driven environment. 4 West Acute Cardiology is a 30-bed acute care unit within UVA Health’s Heart and Vascular service line, delivering care to patients stepping down from the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiovascular ICU, as well as those requiring specialized cardiac therapies. In this role, you will balance autonomy with interdisciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in advanced therapies, including LVAD patients and prostacyclin drips for pulmonary hypertension
  • Experience with rhythm interpretation

Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring of complex cardiac conditions
  • Administering medications and managing advanced therapies, including LVAD patients and prostacyclin drips for pulmonary hypertension
  • Actively participating in daily interdisciplinary rounds, contributing to clinical decision-making and care planning
  • Providing patient and discharge education to support long-term outcomes and care continuity
  • Applying strong time management and rhythm interpretation skills to prioritize care in a dynamic setting
