About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the 4 C Surg Progressive Care unit is responsible for assessing the physiological, emotional, and spiritual needs of each patient within their assigned unit area. They will plan nursing care to meet these needs and ensure that nursing care plans are carried out through their own performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel. This role adheres to the standards of nursing practice at McLaren Flint, utilizing a systematic approach through the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessing and documenting patient status upon admission and continuously thereafter, including in procedural areas, and developing written plans of care with both long and short-term goals and nursing actions.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice nursing in Michigan.
• BLS Certification.
• ACLS Certification within 6 months of hire or transfer for specified units (2 Central, 4 Central, CCU, ICU, PCU, ER, and 12 South).
• Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit, step down unit (e.g., 12T, 9T, 4C, PACU), cardiac cath lab, or emergency department.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a cardiac critical care unit (2C, CCU, ICU), step down units (4C, 9T, 12T), Emergency Department, PACU, Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab or Neuro Interventional Procedures Lab.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Two Years ED experience OR One-year ED experience with one-year critical care experience within the past 5 years.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Possess 2 years of clinical acute care experience.
• BLS Certified.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a critical care unit (2C/ICU/CCU/SCU), step down unit, cardiac cath lab, ER, neuro interventional procedures lab.
• Competent in starting & maintaining IV’s.
• 12 months of recent experience (within the last three (3) years) administrating & monitoring moderate sedation of patients.
• Competent to interpret 12 lead EKG.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an inpatient nursing unit or ER within the last 5 years as an RN (to include: PACU, CVCU; to exclude: 11S, Joint and Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Cath Lab, OR).
• Minimum of 6 months proven telemetry monitoring/interpretation experience within the last year and/or successful completion of McLaren Flint’s Telemetry Monitoring/Interpretation test within the last year.
• ANCC Psych Certification within 2 years of hire or transfer.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Complete the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course and pass the test in accordance with AWHONN standards within 12 months of transfer or hire.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in pulling arterial lines or venous sheaths.
• Knowledge of Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps.
• Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in a Cath Lab.
• CCRN certification.
• Previous experience working in MRI and Radiology setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensures nursing care plans are carried out through performance and/or leadership of subordinate personnel.
• Adheres to standards of nursing practice of McLaren Flint using the nursing process.
• Assesses and documents patient’s status on admission and continuously thereafter, including procedural areas.
• Develops written plan of care, including long and short-range goals and nursing actions.
