About The Position

The Washington State Department of Corrections is hiring a full-time, permanent Registered Nurse 2 at Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, Washington. The facility is a close-custody Reception and Diagnostic Center that processes, tests, and classifies adult men sentenced to prison in Washington State, and serves as a transfer hub. It has seven living units and capacity for more than 1,700 incarcerated individuals; approximately 500 are screened and assessed each month. The registered nurse delivers care that promotes health, supports healing, and helps patients cope and adjust to health conditions. The position is scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Evening and night work receives a $2.50-per-hour shift differential, with additional premiums potentially available for overnight and weekend hours. The posting also describes separate on-call nurse expectations, including availability across shifts, weekends, and holidays and a minimum of 10 shifts per month. Employees may work directly with or near incarcerated individuals in a potentially hazardous setting. The role requires respirator evaluation, fit testing, training, and use as required by safety standards, and may require a baseline tuberculosis test.
