About The Position

This is a 40-hour/week RN position on our day shift for 2–12-hour shifts and 2- 8-hour shifts in our Adult Clinical Research Center. We have inpatients and outpatients on our unit and are here to provide expertise in nursing assessment and skills such as IV placement, EKG’s, procedural set up and assistance, and investigational medication administration ranging from simple to complex research tasks. We administer a high volume of investigational IV infusions such as monoclonal antibody therapies for rare diseases and insulin infusions for metabolic studies as well as subcutaneous and oral research medications. Excellent assessment skills and attention to detail are needed for patient observation following investigational medication administration and tasks such as frequent vital signs, EKG’s and lab draws to include centrifuging research blood samples. There is a weekend rotation approximately once every 6 weeks, however our clinic is closed on holidays. We are looking for candidates that have 1-2 years of medical surgical experience and research experience is a plus. ACLS and BLS certification are required, and biotherapy infusion training will be provided as well as specialized research training.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations.
  • Demonstrates sufficient acumen to recognize problems, ask questions and to contact the patient's primary care provider and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Has experience in gathering pertinent clinical data that aid in referral, treatment, or other primary care pathways.
  • Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully search for evidence to answer clinical questions.
  • Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
