About The Position

Harborview's Medical Respite Program (Edward Thomas House Medical Respite) has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse. This program provides recuperative care to people experiencing homelessness who are too sick to return to the shelter or streets, but do not require a hospital level of care. The role involves screening and triaging referrals, coordinating with referring facilities, determining patient eligibility, and facilitating patient transfers. The nurse will also provide direct nursing care, perform wound care and PICC line management, and support case management activities within an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience (including wound care, PICC line management, and case management)
  • At least 1 year of experience working with homeless and/or safety-net populations

Responsibilities

  • Screen and triage referrals from King County hospitals for Medical Respite admission
  • Coordinate with referring facilities and Respite staff to complete referral documentation
  • Determine patient eligibility for admission
  • Facilitate and coordinate patient transfers to the Respite program
  • Provide direct nursing care within the clinic setting as needed
  • Perform wound care and PICC line management
  • Support case management activities in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
