About The Position

Harborview Medical Center’s Radiology/Cath Lab has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse. This role involves providing essential support to radiology patients, ensuring seamless patient care and coordination, especially with night shift staff. The position requires providing care for hemodynamically unstable STEMI patients and those in cardiogenic shock, including titrating vasoactive medications. The nurse will assist with diagnostic and interventional body and neuro Angio procedures, as well as heart catheterizations, utilizing advanced technologies. Responsibilities also include administering minimal to moderate sedation, cross-departmental collaboration, managing patients with MR Conditional pacemakers during MRI procedures, screening and assessing patients for moderate/minimal sedation, administering moderate sedation for various procedures, overseeing recovery from general anesthesia, assisting in the coordination of care for embolic stroke and trauma patients, and receiving training for ultrasound-guided IV insertions.

Requirements

  • Requires WA (or applicable multistate) RN License
  • Minimum two years critical care (ICU, ED, Cath, IR) nursing experience.
  • ACLS Certification
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with night shift staff across various disciplines to provide essential support to radiology patients, ensuring seamless patient care and coordination.
  • Provide care for hemodynamically unstable STEMI patients and those in cardiogenic shock, ensuring timely and effective interventions, including titrating vasoactive medications.
  • Assist with diagnostic and interventional body and neuro Angio procedures as well as heart catheterizations, utilizing advanced technologies such as IVUS, iFR/FFR, IABP, and Impella.
  • Administer minimal to moderate sedation for patients undergoing procedures in the Cath Lab, Body Angio, and Neuro Angio suites, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Work with various departments, including ECHO, EKG, Cardiology, and Neuro, across different areas of the hospital to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Ensure the safe management of patients with MR Conditional pacemakers or implantable cardiac devices during MRI procedures by programming the device into MRI-safe mode and restoring it post-scan.
  • Screen and assess patients for safe moderate/minimal sedation in procedures such as diagnostic cerebral angiograms, angiograms for embolization, tunneled line placements, implanted ports, and dialysis catheter placements.
  • Administer moderate sedation for other procedures such as bone biopsies and solid organ biopsies, ensuring safety and patient comfort throughout.
  • Oversee the recovery of patients from general anesthesia, ensuring stability and safety before transferring them to other areas within the hospital.
  • Assist in the timely coordination of care for embolic stroke patients and trauma patients requiring embolization, working closely with physicians, radiology technicians, and nurses.
  • Receive training to perform ultrasound-guided IV insertions for patients with challenging venous access and as needed, support ancillary departments in this capacity.
