About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 CC for Pediatric Hematology. This role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will communicate patient/family information to the healthcare team, collaborate on patient goals, and evaluate progress. Professional growth is encouraged through learning activities. The Pediatric Hematology unit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a specialized, team-oriented field focused on evidence-based care for children with blood disorders and cancers. The 30-bed unit provides comprehensive care, including chemotherapy and blood transfusions, within a Magnet-designated institution emphasizing family-centered care. The unit offers numerous complementary therapies and consistently scores high on patient satisfaction regarding teamwork.

- Relevant Work Experience
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
- Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
