About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 for the Inpatient Pediatric Hematology unit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. This specialized, team-oriented field focuses on evidence-based care for children with blood disorders and cancers. The 30-bed unit provides comprehensive care, including chemotherapy and blood transfusions, within a Magnet-designated institution that emphasizes family-centered care. The role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning, while effectively communicating pertinent patient/family information to the healthcare team. Nurses will collaborate in establishing patient goals and evaluating progress to ensure effective outcomes, and are expected to further their professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to Board of Nursing standards.

Requirements

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • 1 year experience

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.

  • Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
