About The Position

This role is for a Registered Mammography Technologist at Harbour View Medical Center. The technologist is responsible for producing high-quality breast imaging procedures in accordance with ARRT, ACR, and MQSA guidelines. They will perform various scans including screening, diagnostic, invasive, and DEXA scans for physician interpretation. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, adherence to safety protocols, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Requirements

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)
1 year experience as a registered mammography technologist (preferred)

Responsibilities

Performs all breast imaging and DEXA procedures.
Assists the radiologist in invasive breast procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and consent is obtained by performing physician.
Correlates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed provider. Conveys patient's clinical history to licensed provider prior to examination.
Selects and operates breast imaging equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
Selects appropriate radiographic technique exposure factors to produce quality diagnostic images.
Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
Applies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of the mammographic procedures.
Provides patient education and discharge instructions.
Participates in the department's quality assessments and improvement plans.
