Metropolitan Ministries, a non-profit organization founded in 1972, is dedicated to providing life-changing solutions for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Tampa Bay area. Serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, and Hernando counties, the organization relies on community support through donations and volunteers. Requirements

Must possess a master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Minimal of a registered intern is required.
Internal staff must qualify for and begin Registered Intern status within 90 days of hire.
Must be knowledgeable about homeless issues, with experience working with behavioral/mental health and/or trauma or developmental issues.
Must have a heart for ministry and a deep understanding of poverty.
Requires strong counseling and teaching skills for individuals and groups, along with maturity, dependability, and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to work professionally, diplomatically, and confidentially with diverse populations in crisis.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also seeking and accepting direction within a multi-disciplinary team framework.
Must maintain appropriate professional boundaries, be well-organized and detail-oriented, and proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Valid FL driver’s license.
Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule to ensure that client/program needs are being met.
Must take initiative in selecting and attending appropriate workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. to upgrade and enhance professional development skills.
Must pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Experience with data collection, trauma informed care, evidenced-based therapeutic practices, team leadership, timely documentation, and knowledge of DSM-5 encouraged.

Responsibilities

Provides individual and group counseling services to clients within residential, offsite programs, and the surrounding community served by the Counseling & Resiliency Center.
Collaborates with other departments to provide expert consultation on client mental health and recovery needs, ensuring a holistic approach to care.
Develops and implements programming that fosters healing from trauma, incorporating protective and resiliency-focused elements, with an emphasis on the Sanctuary Model of Trauma-Informed Care.
Provides supervision and guidance to master’s-level interns, supporting their professional growth and clinical development.
Deliver trauma-informed counseling services (individual, couples, and family) to community clients, and those in Metropolitan Ministries' residential and non-residential programs seeking mental health support.
Manage a caseload in accordance with departmental needs, with flexibility to adjust caseload size as necessary to accommodate the supervision of interns.
Collaborate with departments, counselors, interns, and staff to support clients in adhering to their self-sufficiency plans, especially during times of crisis.
Provide recommendations and coordinate referrals as needed.
Design, lead, and oversee group programs (psychoeducational and support) that engage clients in positive self-development and promote personal growth.
Contribute to the recruitment of qualified interns from master’s-level mental health counseling, social work, and marriage and family therapy programs.
Assist in coordinating events and initiatives to promote the Counseling & Resiliency Center and enhance its services.
Provide training and guidance to interns on counseling processes, procedures, and best practices.
Conduct thorough counseling intakes, administer comprehensive assessments, perform chart audits, and develop individualized counseling goals to ensure client needs are met.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of client interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) and other relevant databases.
Support the Counseling team by assisting with daily Resiliency Center operations, attending departmental meetings, and contributing to events and activities.
Offer training opportunities for staff at Metropolitan Ministries to enhance skills and knowledge.
Work closely with the Clinical Director to meet counseling team staffing needs, adhere to grant requirements, and achieve organizational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Schedule and supervise interns (as directed by the Senior Director) provide counseling and mental health services to clients.
Offer all necessary oversight to ensure a high-quality internship experience, including weekly supervision, quarterly evaluations, interim support for intern clients, and coordination with university staff.
Adhere to the applicable professional Code of Ethics in all duties performed.
Exhibit flexibility to ensure that client and program needs are consistently met.
Follow established protocols to respond to emergency situations and provide emergency backup services as needed.
Support Holiday Tent operations and participate in holiday work on a rotating basis, as required.
Meet individual performance goals and contribute to achieving team and organizational targets as outlined in the annual plan and KPIs.
Attend required staff meetings and participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
