About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist to join their team at the Crown Point location. This role involves providing a safe procedural environment, documenting and reporting critical test results, and customizing neurodiagnostic procedures based on patient history and observed waveforms. The technologist will also be responsible for differentiating artifacts, disinfecting equipment, ensuring procedures are logged and charged, identifying performance improvement opportunities, and determining contraindications for testing. The position requires conducting EEG and other neurodiagnostic tests appropriate to the patient's age and departmental policies. Participation in an on-call rotation for off-shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, is also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Required

  • Registered Electroencephalogram Technologist (R. EEG T) Preferred
  • Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (R. EPT.) Preferred or Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R. NCST.) Preferred
  • Certificate Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) Preferred
  • 2 years Electro neurodiagnostic experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations.
  • Recognizes, documents and reports critical tests results to the designated interpreting physician.
  • Documents pertinent patient medical history, including current medications and circumstances surrounding reported symptoms.
  • Customizes the END recording procedure appropriately as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed END waveforms.
  • Differentiates artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses and troubleshoots possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts.
  • Disinfects testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies.
  • Ensures procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician.
  • Identifies and monitors opportunities for performance improvement of services.
  • Determines any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders.
  • Conducts EEG, and other neurodiagnostic testing, appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required.
