Fairfield Medical Center is seeking a Part-Time Registered Echo Technologist to perform and assist with cardiovascular procedures ordered by physicians for patient diagnosis. This role involves a variety of duties, including assisting physicians and staff with non-invasive cardiopulmonary procedures. The technologist will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to locate, evaluate, and record anatomical, pathological, and functional data for diagnosis. Specific procedures include stress echos, transesophageal echo, 2-D echo with M-mode, color flow, and cardiac doppler. Additionally, the role involves performing cardiovascular diagnostic tests such as EKGs, Event Monitor applications, Cardiac Monitor applications, Pulmonary Function Tests, Lower Extremity Doppler Studies, and Stress Testing. The technologist is responsible for recording procedure data, immediately informing physicians of critical test results, and maintaining cardiology equipment. Other duties include supply inventory, clerical tasks, patient transport, handling telephone inquiries, assisting cardiovascular staff, logging procedures for billing, and participating in monthly cardiovascular meetings and CQI programs. The position also involves supervising and instructing students, precepting new employees, and fostering a patient-centered care approach with a focus on service recovery and continuous quality improvement through Six Sigma methodology. Patient rights and privacy (HIPAA) are to be respected and protected. CPR may be required, and a neat and safe work area must be maintained. Competencies, including rhythm recognition, must be passed for this position.
