About The Position

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) is seeking excited, passionate, and dedicated Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to join their new program at CELC Northglen Orchards in Bowmanville, Ontario. This is an opportunity to be part of building the culture and environments within a new program. As an RECE, you will engage, connect, and learn alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers, working within infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and school-age classrooms. The ideal candidate is passionate about early learning and care, play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning, bringing energy, resourcefulness, and creativity to creating learning opportunities and building connections.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years’ experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR; is currently pursuing or interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Document children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
