About The Position

The Registered Dietitian provides nutrition education and counseling to low-risk patients, focusing on weight management and chronic disease prevention, while supporting the development of educational content and group sessions. This role ensures accurate documentation, promotes healthy lifestyle changes, and contributes to patient empowerment through evidence-based practices, aligning with Sanitas’ mission to improve health outcomes and patient experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program through ACEND.
  • Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • 0-2 years of experience as a registered dietitian.
  • Licensed in the state of employment as Dietitian/Nutritionist, if applicable; or willing to obtain license upon hire.
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Basic knowledge of clinical nutrition principles and dietary management of common chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for teaching and educating patients about general nutrition and dietary modifications.
  • Awareness of cultural and ethnic factors that may influence dietary choices and the ability to provide culturally sensitive nutrition advice.
  • Awareness of various health conditions and their dietary implications, especially in an outpatient setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to create engaging educational materials and deliver presentations or classes to groups of patients.
  • Effective time management skills to balance teaching classes, conducting one on one sessions, and developing educational content.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a varied caseload and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Strong customer service skills to provide patients with positive and supportive experience.
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development in the field of clinical nutrition.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling to the low-risk population, focusing mainly on weight management and disease prevention.
  • Conduct an initial assessment to understand the patient's history and habits, develop personalized recommendations, educate the patient on these recommendations, and monitor their progress to prevent or reduce risk factors for chronic diseases.
  • Conduct follow-up sessions with patients to assess their progress, answer their questions, and provide ongoing support in their dietary change journey.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of patient interactions, assessments, and educational materials.
  • Develop and deliver educational content, including presentations and handouts on various nutrition topics to enhance patient understanding of dietary management for their health conditions.
  • Teach group classes focused on nutrition and lifestyle modifications to empower patients in making informed dietary choices.
  • Create interactive and engaging activities to facilitate learning and participation to increase confidence and self-efficacy in managing dietary and lifestyle factors.
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and trends in clinical nutrition to provide evidence-based information to patients and contribute to content development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Manager, contributing to departmental projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
