About The Position

The Registered Dietitian works as part of a team of dietitians to provide clinical services to a range of cancer outpatients. Working in conjunction with multi-disciplinary disease site teams, and with a patient centered focus; the Dietitian completes comprehensive nutrition assessments, establishes goals of care and implements and monitors nutrition care plans. Clinical assessment, patient and family education and nutrition counseling are fundamental components of the role. The Dietitian may also participate in staff education and research and in broader Hamilton Health Sciences initiatives as determined.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or eligibility for registration.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Applied Human Nutrition or Baccalaureate of Science or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in comprehensive nutrition assessments, as well as the implementation and monitoring of nutrition care plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills including patient teaching and nutrition counselling skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, organizational skills and Quality and Process Improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a health care team.
  • Membership with Dietitians of Canada required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in oncology dietetics and Enteral Nutrition preferred.
  • Experience in Supplement Parenteral Nutrition an asset.
  • Demonstrated computer experience with MOSIAQ, Clinical Connect, MS Office and EPIC Hospital Information System experience preferred.
